The original idea behind Apna Research came from two thoughts, firstly from the job Peter Watts' Mother used to do and importantly; that there is a shortage of specialist research houses catering for the ethnic communities in Britain.

 

Driving through the area where he was brought up in Birmingham, Peter remembers his Mother used to go from house to house as a field research worker knocking on householders doors. Sadly over the years this stopped, both for his Mother and across the market research industry overall, as the number of housewives staying at home dropped dramatically and joined the workforce.

However it occurred to him that in some parts of the City – duplicated around the West Midlands county – there are areas where this is no longer so. These are large areas with predominately Black and Asian residents.

 

To that end we are getting back to the origins of local market research combined with the most up to date IT.

We have our own portable viewing facility, simultaneous translation, micro cameras, eyeball tracking, portable stereo audio recorders and audio transcription – an old method but yet still very relevant in this field.

We use local interviewers, utilising local knowledge and languages - so giving staff training in an ever expanding field.

 

We are based in the Midlands and offer a wide demographic coverage.

As Apna Research is located outside London and South East conurbations, to our advantage this makes us more cost effective.

 

Our company name is Apna which means "our" in most sub-continental Indian languages and dialects.
